Andrew Cuthbert
Director of Cyber Security · IT Security & CISO Advisor · Digital Forensic Investigator
Andrew Cuthbert is Director of Cyber Security at Risk Control Strategies, with more than two decades architecting, defending, and investigating complex enterprise networks. He has spent his career on both sides of the wire — building and running global IT infrastructure, then turning that same expertise toward incident response, breach investigation, and digital forensics for corporate and high-net-worth clients. When a network is the scene of the matter, Andy is who reads it.

Andy built his career on a deep, hands-on understanding of how networks actually work — which is exactly what makes him good at finding where they've been broken into.
Before cyber security was a boardroom conversation, he was already in the infrastructure: troubleshooting, administering, and securing complex networks with a global footprint. He began as a network administrator at Medlock Communications, a cutting-edge UK telecommunications company, before relocating to Los Angeles in 1998. There, as a senior network administrator and IT consultant, he served a wide range of corporations — delivering incident response, data recovery, and business continuity services to clients who couldn't afford to be down.
That operator's background is the difference. Andy doesn't approach a compromised environment as an outsider reading a report; he approaches it as someone who has built the same systems from the ground up. He is skilled in network diagnostics, computer forensics, mobile forensic acquisitions, and IT security audit practice — and because he has lived in real corporate IT environments, he communicates with clients clearly and efficiently, translating technical findings into decisions they can act on.
Since joining RCS, Andy has worked a steady stream of complex investigations, surfacing pertinent evidence through careful forensic analysis and disciplined review of network logs, system scans, and other digital artifacts. He is the trusted troubleshooter the firm turns to when the question is whether something has been compromised — and what to do about it.
A long-time member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), Andy completed his undergraduate studies at Manchester Metropolitan University in the UK.
Expert Capabilities & Crisis Response
Andy specializes in the moments that decide whether a cyber incident becomes a catastrophe: breach response, ongoing-compromise containment, employee wrongdoing, and business continuity under pressure. He pairs the evidentiary discipline of a certified forensic investigator with the systems judgment of a senior network administrator — so that what's recovered is both operationally useful and defensible if the matter heads to litigation.
